Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Purdue | Took care of business against Illinois and got a nice win at Maryland. This team is looking insanely dominant. |
| Houston | Yes they're undefeated and absolutely killed a Big 12 opponent but that was still the one conference game that'll be quad 4 for them. Big games (and chances) next week for them to jump Purdue. |
| UConn | Took care of business with DePaul and went into Butler to get a good road conference win. Might be on upset watch at Xavier next week though. |
| Kansas | Very VERY close call with TCU, but they are still a well rounded team that could very well make the sweet 16 so I can give Kansas props for that win. |
| Tennessee | Did what it needed to do this week against Norfolk and a Ole Miss team with the most inflated record in NCAAM. |
| Arizona | Absolutely crushed Colorado and beat Utah but not much else to say. |
| Marquette | Road conference games are always gonna be hard but losing a quad 2 game in the top 10 is gonna hurt you regardless. |
| North Carolina | GREAT road wins at Clemson and Pittsburgh are showing any doubters that this team is still legit despite their 3 losses. |
| BYU | Was looking promising after the Wyoming beat down but starting out the Big 12 with a quad 2 let down isn't a great sign. |
| Illinois | Weird spot because they had a hard-fought loss at Purdue but other losses are definitely helping their rank this week slightly. |
| Kentucky | Great win at Florida this week to bounce back even more but that UNCW loss will keep them out of the top 10 at least another week, fluke or not. |
| Clemson | Clemson Clemson Clemson... You had 2 phenomenal opportunities to pick up another quality win to bolster your resume, and then went an floundered a lead at Miami and got outclassed by UNC at home. |
| Baylor | Had a little bit of a scare there against Oklahoma State, BUT, a road Big 12 win is impressive nonetheless. |
| Oklahoma | Good win against Iowa State this week sneaks them up into the top 15. Great way to start out conference play for the Sooners. |
| Wisconsin | Picked up 2 quad 2 wins in road Big 10 play this week and seems to be flying under a lot of people's radars due to the Arizona loss. |
| Duke | I'm skeptical of keeping Duke this high but they have two great chances to secure their spot this week in Pitt and a rematch with Georgia Tech. Let's hope that Arkansas loss was just a fluke. |
| Auburn | Biggest win at Arkansas in Bud Walton's history will definitely turn some heads. Will be interesting to see if they defend their home turf this week and keep their domination rolling. |
| Florida Atlantic | FAU’s gonna need to right this ship quickly, or they may be looking at needing to win the AAC to get in. |
| Colorado State | The rams had a tough outing at utah state but it's probably the best worst case scenario they could and their guard play remains phenomenal. |
| Utah | Tough to keep Utah in here but they’re still a very experienced team and should get things back to smooth sailing in the coming weeks. |
| San Diego State | Loss to BYU gonna hinder their progression here by a spot but some nice quality wins this week with a great matchup with New Mexico coming up. |
| Creighton | Creighton had a solid bounce back win against Providence after falling to Marquette last week in a tough loss. Still hanging around for the time being. |
| Alabama | Chalk it up to opening day jitters for conference play but the Tide definitely showed some VERY exposed areas against Vandy. |
| Nevada | Nothing much really to say for Nevada. Drake loss is still worrying to me with Boise State coming to town next week. |
| Iowa State | Had a hard fought loss to Oklahoma but even so I think they’re a dark horse to contend in the Big 12 tourney and maybe even make a March run. |
Memphis, Dayton, Princeton, Miami (FL), and Ohio State round out the first 5 out
