Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Purdue | Showed they can win without Edey at his best. That bodes well for the best team in the country. |
| Houston | Still undefeated. Some challenging games in January will show what this team is made of. |
| Kansas | Have been on fire since their loss early in the season. |
| Tennessee | One of the best teams in the country in my opinion. Their losses are all to teams in the Top 10 that they had to play in three consecutive games. |
| UConn | UConn is the best team in the Big East this season. |
| Kentucky | Great win against Florida to open SEC play. |
| North Carolina | This team is starting to gel. They are scary good. |
| Arizona | Absolutely dismantled two teams that have been in the top 25 conversation this year. |
| Oklahoma | Sooners continue to look like they will be a force in the Big 12 this season. |
| Illinois | Played Purdue to the wire. |
| Duke | Picking up steam. |
| Memphis | Have been on fire since the start of December. |
| BYU | Cougs had a rough second half against Cincy - it will be interesting to see how this squad performs in conference play. |
| Baylor | Strong performances the last few games. |
| Marquette | Am I being tough on Marquette? Maybe. Can't seem to find their rhythm this year. When it's not rebounding, it's missing open looks. Hopefully they can figure it out! |
| Colorado State | Lost to a tough Utah State squad. |
| Wisconsin | A high scoring Badgers team that continues to play good defense. That's a scary combo. |
| San Diego State | Hope that Utah State/San Diego State are neck and neck the whole year. |
| Clemson | Two tough losses in the last two games. |
| Auburn | Demolished Arkansas to open up SEC play |
| Florida Atlantic | This team has been up and down so far this season. The chemistry and leadership is there. Putting themselves in a position to have to win their conference tourney. |
| Creighton | A strong response with wins over Georgetown and Providence after opening up Big East play 0-2. |
| Utah State | Most entertaining game I watched this week. This Utah State squad is dangerous. |
| Seton Hall | Two massive upsets this week. |
| Cincinnati | The Bearcats are a fun team to watch this year. They have an absolute gauntlet of games coming up to open the Big 12. |
JMU Dukes suffer their first loss of the season. Probably can't lose more than one or two more games and expect to get an at-large. Tough ask. I said they would fall of my Top 25 when they lost and I'm sticking with that because I think the teams listed are all better than them. On the cusp - Ole Miss, JMU
