Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| UConn | Was literally the only top 5 team to win during Tue-Wed against Xavier, and then a win against Georgetown at home puts them at top for me. |
| Purdue | Tough loss against Nebraska on the road, but rebounded from that by defeating Penn State at home. Purdue is a close second for me. |
| North Carolina | Defeated their in-state rivals on the road and obliterated Syracuse right after. They look like a very strong team at the moment; they deserve top 3 |
| Kansas | Tough loss against UCF on the road, but cushioned it with a win against a good team, Oklahoma, therefore I won't have them out of the top 5. |
| Tennessee | They have to go on the road twice, lost to a good MS State team but won against Georgia after coming back from 11 down in the last few minutes. I have them stationary at #5. |
| Houston | After going 14-0, they lost twice to two good teams on the road, Iowa State and TCU. That's gonna bump them out of the top 5. Welcome to the Big 12, Houston, hope to see you there next year. |
| Duke | Destroyed Pitt on the road, and had a close game against Georgia Tech that ended up with a W for Duke. I'm not confident for putting them at #7, but it just feels right for some reason. |
| Auburn | Auburn just keeps on rolling, two home wins against Texas A&M, a decent team, and LSU. They deserve to be in top 10, and KenPom strongly agrees with that. |
| Wisconsin | Wisconsin has beat two good teams, Ohio State on the road and Northwestern at home. Along with Auburn, they deserve top 10. |
| Baylor | Squeaked in two home wins against great teams, BYU and Cincinnati. I have them at the top 10 because of that. |
| Kentucky | That win over Missouri means nothing, as Texas A&M beat them on the road. They are barely out of the top 10. |
| Memphis | Back to back 100+ games for Memphis, especially with that road win against Wichita State. |
| Illinois | They barely beat a good Michigan State team, but suffered a bad loss at home against Maryland. |
| Oklahoma | Tough losses to TCU and Kansas, both on the road. Still in the top 15, though. |
| TCU | Huge wins against Oklahoma and Houston at home, both top 10 teams. Plus, they should've won against Kansas. Of course they will be ranked, but in the top 15, deservedly. |
| Arizona | Awful loss to Wazzu. Even if it's on the road, they played like total crap this game. They are looking like frauds at the moment. I have them out of the top 15 just because of that. |
| Iowa State | Iowa State beat #2 Houston and held OK State to just 42 points. They continue to impress me after I had them in the top 25 last week. |
| Utah State | They keep their winning streak going despite horrible officiating in the UNLV game. |
| Creighton | Stolen a win against a tough St. John's team, and also destroyed a horrible DePaul team on the road. |
| Marquette | Might be too low of a placement, but I just don't believe in this Marquette team anymore. They suffered a bad loss against Butler at home, which brings them down, like a lot. |
| BYU | Despite a tough Baylor loss, they beat UCF on the road, something that Kansas couldn't do. Therefore, they are still in the top 25. |
| Dayton | Dayton keeps on winning, with a win on the road against Duquesne. Let's see how long ranked Dayton will last. |
| Texas Tech | Quality wins against Oklahoma State and Kansas State makes them ranked here. They should've deservedly taken Texas' spot last week after they beat them. |
| San Diego State | San Diego State suffers on the road as they barely squeak out a win against San Jose St, but lost to New Mexico with a tough atmosphere. |
| Colorado State | They didn't play this weekend, but they lost to Boise State on the road on Tuesday so there's that. They are still in my top 25 somehow. |
Consideration bubble: Ole Miss, New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Seton Hall, Boise State, Alabama. Dropoffs (based on last week's AP Poll): Clemson, Gonzaga, Florida Atlantic, Texas
