Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| UConn | Tristan Newton is leading a team that is absolutely crushing the opposition. |
| Purdue | Zach Edey is Zach Edey - which means Purdue will go as far as he carries them. |
| North Carolina | Armando Bacot is the unquestioned leader of this team - having RJ Davis helps. |
| Houston | Jamal Shead is the glue guy for this squad. Elevates the whole team - which allowed LJ Cryer make immediate impacts. |
| Tennessee | It's really been a team effort for this Tennessee squad - but Dalton Knecht is on another level. |
| Wisconsin | I expected Chucky Hepburn to lead this Badgers team this year - but AJ Storr and Max Klesmit have taken over running the ship. |
| Duke | Kyle Filipowski...that's all that has to be said. |
| Marquette | Expected Kolek and Oso to be the 1A and 1B guys this year, but Oso has really taken over on the court this season as the consistent contributor - allowing up and down games from other players. |
| Kentucky | Antonio Reeves has been their best player and it's not even close. Shoutout to Reed Sheppard too. |
| Kansas | McCullar Jr and Dickinson (to my dismay) have willed this Kansas team to many success this season. |
| Arizona | Caleb Love. |
| Illinois | TSJ has been their best player, but shoutout to Marcus Domask for elevating his game during the suspension. |
| Auburn | Johni Broome has been the dominant force for Auburn's early season success. |
| Texas Tech | I didn't know who Pop Isaacs was at the beginning of the season, and I regret that now. |
| Creighton | I think Scheierman, Alexander, and Kalbrenner are the best the Big East has to offer. They are carrying Creighton. |
| Iowa State | Iowa State? Iowa State. Three players averaging double figures, and two players averaging 9.5+ ppg. Their success is a total team effort. |
| New Mexico | High scoring and out of nowhere. Richard Pitino....take a bow. |
| Utah State | Great Osobar so close to averaging a double double on the season. |
| Oklahoma | Javian McCollum and Otegah Oweh combining to form a very efficient back court for the surprise Sooners. |
| Dayton | A total team effort with DaRon Holmes putting the team on his shoulders. |
| Alabama | On top of the SEC w/ Mark Sears blazing the trails at 20 ppg. |
| Florida Atlantic | Another team whose success is due to five major contributors. Johnell Davis is having a great year. |
| TCU | Emanuel Miller has been their best player and will be all season. An inside presence with the ability to knock down the 3 ball. |
| Baylor | With 5 players averaging double figures and another above 9.6 - I don't know how this Baylor squad isn't pushing the top 5 all season. |
| BYU | And ANOTHER squad with 5+ major contributors. Mark Pope is doing an amazing job getting the most out of his team. |
A lot of shakeup outside of the Top 5 this week. It's a really wild season so far and there is a lot of instability when it comes to who the best teams in the country are.
