Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Auburn | Auburn Is the best team in college basketball. They are 23-2 and beat #2 ranked Alabama on the road. |
| Duke | Even though they lost to Clemson, Duke is still a juggernaut. They remain in the lead in the ACC and should run through the rest of their schedule. |
| Florida | Florida has only backed up their impressive win Vs Auburn with a road win Vs Mississippi St, and domination Vs South Carolina. |
| Alabama | Alabama is still a great team and is a national championship contender, but I can't place them any higher than 4th after their loss to Auburn. The loss was at home, and they never held a lead. |
| Houston | Besides a 1-point loss to Texas Tech, Houston has been unstoppable as of late and continues to be with a win against Arizona. |
| Tennessee | Tennessee narrowly escaped an upset vs Vanderbilt. Even so, Vanderbilt kept it close to the very end. This combined with a Houston win causes a swap between the two schools. |
| Texas A&M | Texas A&M hasn't changed much. Their win against Georgia was more lopsided than expected, and that combined with a Purdue drop moves them up slightly in my rankings. |
| Iowa State | Besides two expected wins Vs UCF and Cincinnati, Iowa St hasn't changed and stays put at #8 in my rankings. |
| Texas Tech | Texas Tech just destroyed Oklahoma St. Oklahoma St isn't the greatest team, but they aren't the worst team either. Texas Tech just handed a fellow Big 12 team their worst loss of the year. |
| St. John's | St. John's 11-game winning streak was snapped by Villanova. Their spot in the top 10 is still maintained with a win against Creighton, though. |
| Purdue | Purdue followed a 4-game winning streak with 2 back to back losses to Michigan and Wisconsin. Michigan and Wisconsin are both great teams, but the losses still warrant a drop out of the top 10. |
| Michigan State | Michigan St hasn't been themselves as of late. They lost at home to Indiana and needed a 2nd half comeback to defeat Illinois. But they are still a great team and don't deserve a significant drop. |
| Wisconsin | Wisconsin continues to rise in my rankings with a double-digit road win against Purdue. |
| Arizona | Arizona followed a win Vs Texas Tech with two back-to-back losses to Kansas St and Houston. However, both losses were by 4 points or fewer and Kansas St was one of the hottest teams in NCAAB. |
| Michigan | This ranking is more about what the teams above Michigan haven't done rather than what Michigan has done. Then again, Michigan is on a 6-game winning streak (which includes a win against Purdue). |
| Missouri | Similar to Michigan, Missouri's ranking has more to do with what schools ranked above them haven't done. |
| Kentucky | If I could describe Kentucky in one word, it would be inconsistent. Over the past 12 games, Kentucky has gone 6-6, with 4 of those losses being to unranked schools. |
| Marquette | In the past week, not much has happened with Marquette besides an expected win Vs DePaul. While it was closer than expected, I'm not gonna knock them down for it. They stay put at #18. |
| Kansas | Much like Kentucky, Kansas has followed a pattern of winning and losing in their recent games, with a recent loss Vs Utah. On paper, Kansas should've won, but Gabe Madsen of Utah had a career day. |
| Memphis | Memphis came back down to earth with a loss Vs Wichita St. They should still win out, but this loss shows they are very stoppable, especially on defense. |
| Mississippi State | With a double-digit road win vs Ole Miss, Mississippi State earns a spot in my top 25. |
| Clemson | Clemson backed up their win against Duke with 2 blowouts. A 30-point win Vs North Carolina, and most recently a 26-point win Vs Florida St, further solidifying their spot in my rankings. |
| Ole Miss | Ole Miss fails the test that was their game against Mississippi State and drops to #23. |
| Louisville | Louisville has been playing fantastic basketball recently, with their only recent loss being to Georgia Tech, where they choked in the 2nd half. Despite this, Louisville deserves a top 25 spot. |
| Maryland | With a road win against Nebraska and a win against Iowa, Maryland jumps back into my top 25. |
Dropped From My Rankings: UCLA(22), Creighton (24), UConn(25) Rankings After #25: #26. UCLA, #27. New Mexico, #28. Creighton, #29. Illinois, #30. Gonzaga
