Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | Won games they were supposed to win. |
| Purdue | See 1. Move up due to Duke losing. |
| UConn | See 1. |
| Arizona | Great win against a quality Duke squad. |
| Duke | Still a Top 5 team. Great basketball game against Arizona as a neutral. |
| Marquette | Wins as expected, but a -1 rebounding differential between both games against two much worse teams. Marquette needs to figure that out fast. Offense is firing on all cylinders already. |
| Creighton | See 1. |
| Houston | See 1. |
| Miami (FL) | See 1. Good outing against UCF. |
| Tennessee | Good win against an underrated Wisconsin squad. |
| Florida Atlantic | See 1. |
| Gonzaga | See 1. |
| Kentucky | See 1. |
| Arkansas | See 1. |
| Michigan State | Very unexpected loss against JMU. Felt like JMU has been under the radar, but outside of Tyson Walker and Carr off the bench, the Spartans looked lost. |
| Texas A&M | See 1. |
| Texas | See 1. |
| North Carolina | See 1. |
| Baylor | Good win against Auburn. |
| USC | Really complete game from their starters in both games (4 starters in double digits in both) |
| UCLA | See 1. |
| Villanova | See 1. |
| James Madison | Two major wins against MSU and Kent State and one easy looking win against Howard. The upset at MSU is the main headline. But also a fantastic win at Kent State to end their 23 home game win streak |
| Illinois | See 1. |
| Virginia | Great win against Florida. Flashes of quality play from First Years Leon Bond III and Blake Buchanan. |
Typing with one arm for the next few weeks due to surgery. Write ups may be a little light. SDSU, SMC, and Wisconsin out after a losses this week. I felt like UVA and JMU look more impressive after the first week which is why they are in my Top 25. I'll probably write more about Marquette than other teams throughout the season. Will also be a bit more critical with my Golden Eagles.
