Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Alabama | Played well so far shots just not falling. No reason to drop them yet. |
| Kansas | Big win over UNC. Blowing 20 point lead keeps them from #1, defense could be a real issue. |
| Duke | Have looked the part thus far. Big step up in competition this week with UK |
| Gonzaga | Massive blowout win over Baylor confirms what we thought. |
| Iowa State | Transfer bigs looked the part and they are a real problem. |
| Auburn | Huge win over Houston confirms what I thought about both. Auburn legit. |
| UConn | No competition just yet but looking the part. |
| Indiana | A couple of Ho-Hum wins, front court looks as dominant as I thought. |
| North Carolina | Not going to drop them for losing by 3 @ Kansas. Still worried about the bigs but guard play is elite. |
| Houston | Also not going to drop for losing to Auburn, tough game but offensive worries came to fruition. |
| Arizona | Slight bump for Arizona, looking maybe even more elite offensively than I thought. |
| Tennessee | Absolutely pummeled Louisville. Defense, physicality and Lanier is a legit 3 level scorer. |
| Creighton | Dropped a couple after a worrisome game 1. Kalkbrenner elite but defense a problem? |
| Purdue | Handled business thus far. Going to get tougher this week. |
| Marquette | Looking like a well oiled machine against lesser comp. Kam Jones AA incoming. |
| Baylor | Game 1 a wakeup call as Gonzaga blitzed them. Nice bounce back win over Arkansas. |
| Michigan State | Deep and talented, very good defensively so far. Measuring stick game vs Kansas. |
| Cincinnati | Looking every bit the part of a top-20 team so far. |
| Kentucky | Offense is rolling early against lesser comp. See what they can do vs Duke. |
| Rutgers | No Bailey yet but Harper and Sommerville are legit. Might be no. 2 class behind Duke. |
| Xavier | A little worried after 2 games, I'll just say that. 2-0 though. |
| Arkansas | Tough loss to Baylor but not bad enough to drop out of rankings, was expected. Shooting still a major concern. |
| Wake Forest | Good win over Michigan, looking better than last year. |
| New Mexico | Looked great and beat what I thought would be a very good UCLA team. |
| Texas A&M | Tough loss on the road to UCF, controlled the whole game and fell apart. Still like them long term. |
Dropped: Texas, UCLA Next 5: Oregon, Ohio St, St. John's, Clemson, Texas
