Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Auburn | Despite the plane incident this team came out and beat my #1 team, Houston after blowing out a competent Vermont squad |
| Houston | I'm putting a 1-1 team at number 2, they destroyed the spread against Jax State and lost to a team I was already high on compared to most |
| Duke | Nothing much to say, did what they were supposed to do, drop 1 spot for me due to Oregon passing them up |
| Iowa State | Like Duke, they drop 1 spot for me after getting passed by Auburn, their lone game was a win over the worst team in the league... |
| Kansas | Jumps up from #6, played as expected for me but the win over UNC gives them some credit even if it was the expected result |
| Alabama | I have Alabama jumping from #7 after they blew out UNCA, although the Arkansas State game was closer than fans probably would've liked |
| UConn | Another team with not much to say, did their job, drop 2 spots for me due to other results |
| Gonzaga | Great win over Baylor, followed it up with a scrappy win over Arizona State, who I think is a better team than people have given them credit for thus far, I was lower on Zaga before, up 5 spots |
| Arizona | Took care of business against Canisius and Old Dominion, nothing much to say |
| Tennessee | Win over Louisville was impressive just due to how quickly the pulled ahead and stayed ahead, teams ahead of them didn't necessarily impress either |
| Purdue | Faced a slight scare from A&M-CC, nothing too impressive against NKU either, losing 7'4 freshman Jacobson for the season isn't great either |
| Creighton | Kalkbrenner was otherworldly in game 1, but they still only beat UTRGV by 13 |
| North Carolina | I don't want to overreact to a loss to Kansas, so I'm putting them here, but the Elon win didn't look amazing either, I think UNC could still be too high here, but we'll have to see |
| Cincinnati | Won both games by good margins, gain a few spots |
| Marquette | Marquette beat a solid George Mason and beat Stony Brook by a good margin too |
| St. John's | Nothing remarkable, they basically stay put |
| Mississippi State | Did their job this week by impressive margins |
| Illinois | Did their job this week by impressive margins, was more impressed by Miss St tho |
| Texas A&M | The loss to UCF and unimpressive final result against East Texas A&M might drop A&M from many people's rankings, but I liked what I saw, I'm gonna stick with my guns on this one |
| Baylor | I'm low on Arkansas and the Zaga loss, while not a bad loss, was a blowout. Despite this, I'm keeping Baylor here for now |
| Michigan State | Neither team they beat was very good, but looked good enough, keeping them in my top 25 |
| Texas Tech | Too close vs NW St, had to drop a couple spots |
| BYU | Too close vs UC Riverside, had to drop a couple spots as well |
| Ohio State | Only played 1 game but the 1 game was a win over my #16 Texas, they earned a spot |
| Kentucky | My first team out preseason earns a spot after good margins against Wright State and Bucknell |
I trust my preseason rankings and tried not to overreact too much, other teams considered are Texas, UCLA, Clemson, Maryland, Florida, Oregon, Indiana, Wisconsin, and UCF
