Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Auburn | Auburn and Houston are 1A and 1B to me. They both play such good defense, seems like Auburn is a little ahead offensively right now. |
| Houston | They have the best defense in my opinion, they just gotta figure out the offense with uzan at the helm. |
| Gonzaga | Incredible win against baylor, came back to earth a bit against arizona state. this offense is something special, but i think they would struggle with the physicality of the two teams above them. |
| Kansas | showed against UNC how good they can be but that blown lead is concerning. very short list of things to fix to become the best team in the country. |
| Duke | duke is already really good, when i thought they would take time to gel. didn't face much competition but looked good. |
| Arizona | absolutely obliterated ODU. games against wisconsin and duke will teach us a lot. concerned they will fade in big games. |
| UConn | looks like the players that stuck around this year are running hurleys system nicely. would like to see them in bigger games, memphis will be a decent test. |
| Alabama | the inconsistency of their playstyle is whats keeping me from ranking them higher. should not have struggled much against arkansas state but they did. |
| Iowa State | took care of business in their one game this week but i have concerns about their offense. |
| Kentucky | I think mark pope is going to have this offense humming very soon. duke game will be very telling about this team's strengths and weaknesses. |
| North Carolina | they're going to have to learn how to deal with being undersized but second half against kansas showed that they can play some great basketball |
| Baylor | baylor has some great players that are good individually on offense but i'm not impressed by their offensive system. got blitzed by zags but arky is a solid win |
| Clemson | i don't care, i think this is a really good team. retained a lot of last years roster and seems like they're running the system well to start the season. until proven otherwise they remain ranked high |
| Tennessee | defense is physical as always but i just don't think they have the scorers needed to bail out a rick barnes offense. not super impressed by the louisville win |
| Creighton | kalkbrenner will carry this team a lot this season. interested to see if others can step up too. |
| Arkansas | i think the loss to baylor will end up good for arkansas, they had to dig deep and in turn establish some team roles early in the season. i expect them to get better as the season progresses. |
| Purdue | what happens when the shots arent falling? i think alabama and marquette might expose this teams flaws. |
| Cincinnati | absolutely boatraced their opponents this week but we'll have to see if its just the opponents they played or if theyre the real deal |
| Marquette | need more from their bench if they want to be successful |
| Utah State | looked really good against inferior competition, excited for their game against iowa |
| Oregon | seems to be a really balanced team. i think they'll do well in the big ten |
| Indiana | showed flashes of talent but seem inconsistent so far |
| Texas A&M | wow i hate theyre playstyle. still, they seem like a gatekeeper to the top 25 and will overwhelm plenty of teams with the way they play. |
| Florida | gotta wait to see if the news about floridas coach affects the team. |
| Illinois | gonna be honest, didnt watch illinois this week. however, i'm struggling to justify any one team in this last spot. |
