AnAnonymousS0urce's Week 3 Ballot

RankTeamReason
Texas Beat Gonzaga (a good team) by 19 (a lot)
Houston Consistently insane margins of victory against their weaker opponents. Winning @Oregon by 10 is also pretty good but failing to match the UC Irvine margin of victory keeps them out of number 1 for now
Virginia Willing to overlook the NC Central game after that performance in Vegas.
Maryland SLU and Miami are pretty good, beating them by 28 and 18 on a neutral court seems hard to do.
Gonzaga Hard to know just how to balance the blowout loss with the similarly strong win.
Iowa Very strong win @ Seton Hall
Kansas Duke win obviously strong but I couldn't ignore the weak SUU win
San Diego State @ Stanford is a quality win, BYU win is ok I guess
Saint Mary's North Texas by 30 is crazy on the surface but I can't give them too much credit given that UNT's entire roster had the flu
Baylor UCLA game good, Virginia game bad
Illinois ^
Michigan State Why are they playing basketball on a boat?
Indiana Cool road win
Alabama Smacking Liberty around was a pretty strong win, USA game a bit weak but I respect the road game. I wish they had a game against a real team.
Utah State Crushed a trio of strong mid-majors but OT against USD is pretty bad
West Virginia Power conference road win (by 35 points)
Memphis Very hard team to place but the strength of schedule is respectable
Arizona Beat a very good team (no bias) by 42 (unbiased). Can't wait for them to play a real team.
Duke No good wins to back up the loss, but it was close enough that I won't unrank them entirely
Xavier q u a l i t y l o s s
Sam Houston 2 D1 games, 2 Power 6 road wins
Mississippi State Beat some decent mid-majors, no bad games yet
UCLA Didn't feel like I could put them much higher because 2 losses and no strong wins but the losses are close enough that I can understand leaving them a bit higher.
North Carolina If they would like to be ranked higher they should consider beating teams outside the top 200 by more than 13 of 6. JMU and CofC Ws are ok but saying these results look like a top 25 team is generous.
Kentucky Basically same story as UCLA but the losses are weaker.

Overall Rationale

Trying to not do preseason bias, which worked out much better this week than last week. Still a lot of emphasis on margin of victory/loss. Generally I support rewarding quality losses but it's hard to really do that this early when there are so many undefeated/1-loss teams I would be putting them over.
