Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | (+1) Quality wins and eye test make them the easy no. 1 right now. |
| Gonzaga | (+2) Looking like the best offense in the country. |
| Auburn | (+3) Have a great win over Houston and have been dominant against the teams they should be. |
| Iowa State | (+1) Bizarrely have only played twice so far but have looked good against bad comp. |
| Purdue | (+9) Incredibly impressive win over Bama. TKR and Braden Smith dominated, making up for the rebounding/defensive weaknesses. |
| Alabama | (-5) Tough place to play going to Purdue so not overly concerning. Need Youngblood healthy to give them another shooter. |
| UConn | (--) Still haven't played anyone but looking solid yet again. |
| Indiana | (--) Still love this roster and they've looked the part so far. |
| North Carolina | (--) Dominated in their bounce back spot after the loss to Kansas, still think they're top-10 good. |
| Houston | (--) We know who Houston is, top-10 good but loss of Shead appears to be tough to overcome, as expected. |
| Tennessee | (+1) Tennessee is quietly looking fantastic. Lanier has been a revelation. |
| Kentucky | (+7) Huge statement win over a young Duke team. Pope looks to have brought this talented roster together, no easy task. |
| Duke | (-10) Very talented but the FR need to settle in. Still think ultimately they're a top-10 or even 5 team but not there yet. |
| Marquette | (+1) Love what Marquette is doing so far and that win @ Maryland was huge. Purdue at home next so a chance to make a statement. |
| Creighton | (-2) Never apologize for winning but even at 4-0 I haven't been blown away by Creighton. Still think they'll be solid but has been clunky early on. |
| Baylor | (--) Settled in after the blowout loss to Gonzaga. Likely only going to keep improving. |
| Cincinnati | (+1) It's been horrible competition but absolutely dominating so far. Really good team. |
| Xavier | (+3) Very impressive win over Wake Forest earns my trust after a slow start. |
| Rutgers | (+1) Bailey back and joins Harper and Sommerville who are legit. Might be no. 2 class behind Duke. |
| St. John's | (NR) Very impressive win over New Mexico. Pitino has a group playing much harder this year, and very talented. |
| Arizona | (-10) Kind of just got whooped by Wisconsin. Was their first road game but still, defensive effort was lackluster to say the least. Uber talented but that was concerning. |
| Texas A&M | (+3) Great bounce back win over a pretty good Ohio St team. This is still a top-25 team, with Zurich Phelps giving them more pop on O. |
| Arkansas | (-1) They battled Baylor tough but Troy was a struggle a little still in the bounce back spot. Not sure who they are but talent is still there. |
| Wisconsin | (NR) Big time win over Arizona cannot be ignored. Losing the poss. battle by 21 is not sustainable for winning though, so they'll need to clean up the boards. |
| Michigan State | (-8) Loss to Kansas was ugly, but I can't give up on them after just that. Young talent is off the charts, they're deep and they defend at an elite level. |
Dropped: Wake Forest, New Mexico Next 5: Texas Tech, Florida, BYU, UCLA, Texas
