Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Auburn | They still have the best win in the country, and they can solidify my opinion of them being #1 with a very tough game vs Iowa state on Monday. |
| Gonzaga | Decent win over San Diego State. I think (unfortunetly) the Baylor win looks less impressive now, but a 39 point win over any team that good means you should stay here. |
| UConn | Hopefully they don't falter against their first real test this season. I'm personally expecting a very clean win over Memphis. |
| Kansas | Did not play anyone good, won easily. Duke should be a second good test for this team. |
| Tennessee | My poor Bears. They had control the entire game, and Lanier just killed us with his 3 PT shot. I think that this is a very strong team that proved it vs. Baylor. |
| Marquette | Stomped Purdue who I though was very solid in a very successful Also handles a Georgia team looking to upset them. I was very wrong about them having a ceiling at 11 last week. |
| Iowa State | Auburn game will decide how I feel about this team, they have played 3 cupcakes while my team has already played 4 ranked teams. I don't like teams that don't schedule good opponents. |
| Houston | Stomped Hofstra, and I'm expecting them to take down Bama. |
| North Carolina | They didn't play anyone good, but wins are wins. |
| Kentucky | They didn't play anyone good, but wins are wins. |
| Wisconsin | They beat what I think is a very solid UCF team, but they also almost lost to UTRGV, so I really can't place this team in my head. I think they are good, but don't necessarily think they'll stay at 11 |
| Duke | They got a good win over Arizona, and can really prove themselves against Kansas this week. |
| Purdue | Stomped by Marquette, which I really wasn't expecting. They still have a good win over Bama so I'm expecting them to bounce back. |
| Alabama | They got by Illinois handily, and they face a tough test against Houston this week. They will definitely rise if they can win that. |
| Indiana | They haven't played much stiff competition, but they keep winning, and looking at the schedule that is likely to continue. |
| Pitt | They've picked up a few wins, are 6-0, and have played higher quality opponents than some other teams, so even though its out of the blue, I think they're a solid squad. (and KenPom does like them) |
| Memphis | Solid win against a decent San francisco squad. They have a big test against UConn and can really prove themselves Monday. |
| Texas A&M | They have bounced back nicely since their game of the season. Although they didn't play anyone this week, there were a lot of poor performances by other teams above and around them. |
| St. John's | Barely lost to Baylor and by all means should have won. It's very odd that I put St John's above them but a double OT just means the teams are close, and right now I'd pick them to win a rematch. |
| Cincinnati | They didn't play anyone good, but wins are wins. |
| Baylor | This team is really odd to watch. They can look awful at some points but at other times look great. I'm really hoping our defense improves, and our offense can figure out that the first 10 minutes... |
| Mississippi State | KenPom likes them, they're undefeated, and I don't really know who else to put in these slots. |
| UCF | Since they still have a quality win over A&M and I'm high on Wisconsin, I think UCF should still be ranked, although most advanced stats don't like them. |
| Florida | KenPom likes them, they're undefeated, and I don't really know who else to put in these slots. |
| Oregon | KenPom likes them, they're undefeated, and I don't really know who else to put in these slots. |
(Baylor continued :P): ...does in fact count towards the final score. If we continue to start games this cold, I don't even know if this team makes it to the tourney, much less have a run. I'd be more happy with this team if Roach didn't hit that shot, which is very unfortunate. Rankings done 11-23 after all games were played. Dropped: Creighton, Arizona, Texas Tech, Illinois.
