Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Purdue | Best resume in the country. |
| Virginia | |
| UConn | |
| Maryland | |
| Texas | I'd like to see Texas play away from home. |
| Houston | I'd like to see Houston play one of the big boys. The teams above them have and are undefeated. Houston is still my title pick. |
| Baylor | Two losses, but to good competition, one on the road, and two solid wins to go with them, neither at home. |
| Kansas | |
| Arizona | The PAC-12 mountain trip is no joke. |
| Indiana | The RAC is no joke. |
| Tennessee | The Colorado loss looks to be an aberration for both schools. |
| Mississippi State | Quietly 8-0 with some great wins. |
| Duke | Losses to two great teams. |
| Arkansas | Should've beat Creighton, but lost to SDSU. |
| Creighton | Wins against TTU and Arkansas outweigh loss to Nebraska. 2 point loss to UA and 5 point road loss to UT are good performances. |
| Illinois | |
| Auburn | |
| Gonzaga | Gonzaga clearly isn't elite, but a close loss to Baylor and win versus Xavier are enough to prove they can hang. |
| San Diego State | Should've beaten Arkansas, so UCI win can be forgiven. |
| Ohio State | Duke and SDSU are fine as losses. |
| Xavier | Lots of losses but wins over WVU and UF. Tough schedule on neutrals. |
| Iowa State | Is it possible they haven't beaten a good team yet? |
| Alabama | Is it possible they haven't beaten a good team yet? |
| UCLA | Two losses are acceptable. Metrics love 'em. |
| Utah | Sam Houston loss looks ok, while Arizona win is huge. Can understand why some would want Rutgers in this spot. |
-28: TCU, Missouri, UNLV. Rankings are mostly resume, with some hand-placed teams being Houston, Indiana, and Tennessee.
