Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Auburn | (--) still haven't lost despite the plane incident, they have the two best wins so far, and maui champs? Number 1 |
| Kansas | (+2) seems to me like kansas could make this season a two team race, similar to baylor and gonzaga a la 2021. got some great wins and rolled even without dickinson. |
| Kentucky | (+3) i am so incredibly uncomfortable putting kentucky this high, but they haven't lost, and I can't fault them for that. looking ahead to clemson and zags to see how good this team actually is. |
| Iowa State | (+4) despite the loss, they controlled the game with auburn most of the time. running out of steam toward the end of games may be a theme going forward. |
| Marquette | (+5) same situation as kentucky, looking ahead to iowa state and wisconsin |
| Gonzaga | (-3) even with the OT loss to a surprising west virginia team, the zags had a pretty good week, notching wins over indiana and davidson. |
| Tennessee | (+4) only really moved up because of the chaos. we have to wait a bit for some good matchups. |
| Duke | (-1) best two loss team in the land, gonna be dangerous in march |
| Purdue | (+3) impressed with their ability to grind out a tough game with ole miss. another benefactor of the chaos this week |
| Alabama | (+4) once again i don't know what to make of bama. great win against houston followed two games later by the loss to oregon? idk man |
| Florida | (+7) huge jump for the gators because of the chaos but they're also manhandling teams. seems like we have to wait till conference play to see if they're the real deal. |
| Wisconsin | (+5) benefactor of the chaos. marquette game will be lit. |
| Baylor | (--) no movement. baylor: the essence of consistency /s |
| Oregon | (NR) what a coming out party for the ducks. I cannot believe this is the same team that went to OT with portland. will they maintain this success, that's another question, but they deserve it now. |
| Houston | (-13) Rough week for the coogs. the departure of shead was made (extremely) apparent and the offense sputtered. defense doesn't look as infallible either. |
| Cincinnati | (--) no movement |
| St. John's | (-2) unpopular but i still think they're a good team. will eat my shoe gladly if wrong. |
| San Diego State | (NR) brian dutcher is a wizard. they out-houston-ed houston. |
| Illinois | (NR) honestly its about time i gave illinois their due. good win against arky. benefactor from the chaos. |
| North Carolina | (-11) north carolina you are on THIN ice buddy i WILL drop you out |
| Utah State | (-2) they keep winning and i'm a believer. |
| Pitt | (NR) i've had my eye on pitt for a minute and now i'm comfortable putting them in, gritty win against ohio state |
| Memphis | (NR) tyrese hunter hates UConn |
| Oklahoma | (NR) i hate that they're undefeated but okay porter moser go off |
| Drake | (--) seems like the defense is for real. i definitely need to watch their game against kansas state. |
Honorable Mentions (there's a lot): Georgia, Arizona State, Michigan, Michigan State, West Virginia, Dayton, Ole Miss, Clemson, Nebraska, Saint Mary's, Texas A&M, Maryland, New Mexico, Louisville, UCLA, BYU, Mississippi State, Arkansas This poll will probably have the most movement we see all year. It was also the most difficult, and a lot of the honorable mentions could slot into spots 21-25. DISHONORABLE MENTIONS: UConn, Arizona, Indiana, Creighton
