Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Auburn | (+0) Best resume of anyone in CBB so far this season and a road loss in Cameron isn't going to knock them from my top spot. |
| Tennessee | (+1) The defense is so dominant and I think they can still hit another gear on Offense once they start limiting turnovers |
| Iowa State | (+1) Insanely impressive 4 game stretch adding a strong win over top 5 Marquette to a really impressive Maui showing |
| Duke | (+4) This team needed the win over Auburn after dropping close games to UK and KU, showed resilience in the comeback against the Cards with Cooper on the bench in foul trouble. |
| Marquette | (+0) Can't fault any team for losing in Ames and adding the dominant win over Wisc to their pelts of Purdue, Maryland and Georgia and this team is as stamped as any |
| Kentucky | (+0) No shame in losing @ Clemson, but what resilience in this group to come back from 18 in a road environment against a top 10 team |
| Gonzaga | (+2) Blew the big lead, but never folded, still need more of a perimeter presence to their offense |
| Alabama | (+3) Sears has struggled a bit, but this team is run so well it hasn't mattered much and when he's on they can dominate like they showed in Chapel Hill |
| Kansas | (-7) Tough week with two difficult road losses, but bigger concerns for the Kansas team lacking that go-to guard scoring that Self has built this dynasty on. |
| Houston | (+2) Struggled in clutch time execution, but with how dominant they can play they shouldn't be in clutch time against too many teams. |
| Florida | (+3) Hard to evaluate this team considering their competition, but excited to see them match up against ASU (guards should feast) and UNC (should be much more evenly matched) |
| Purdue | (-5) This won't be the only team to get spanked @ PSU, I can promise you that, but the recipe of pressuring Smith is out there now |
| Texas A&M | (+8) So deep and tenacious, while they can dominate the O boards, they're not reliant on it as a strategy |
| UConn | (+16) Really strong 'get right' week with a home win over Baylor and road win over Texas, they're not as dominant as the last two years, but to do that without Karaban is a great sign |
| Cincinnati | (-5) A bad loss even on the road against this year's Nova squad, for such a physical team they draw a shockingly low amount of FTs and can't hit them when they get them. |
| Ole Miss | (+8) Methodical and smart with the ball, they don't out talent you, but Beard just has them in the right spots at all times |
| Michigan | (+8) After out assisting Xavier and VaTech 34-12 last week they out assisted Wisconsin 16-8 on the road, before winning a sloppy one against Iowa |
| Dayton | (+2) Still mainly moral victories, but the Advanced Metrics are starting to catch up to my impression of this team that plays above their weight class |
| Texas Tech | (+7) 5pt loss against A&M without Toppin is a win in my book |
| UCLA | (+7) After dominating cupcakes, the Bruins finally showed what they can look like against strong opponents with a road win in Oregon |
| Oregon | (-5) They weren't going to go undefeated, and losing to UCLA isn't a bad loss, but they've given up a high 3pt% on a consistent basis now |
| Mississippi State | (+10) Just absolutely outmanned Pitt, dominating them on the boards and in the paint |
| Clemson | (+10) This team is just so experienced they never play out of their style and can beat anyone regardless of talent differential |
| St. John's | (+4) Good luck trying to score in the paint on this team, excited to see them tested against the meat of the BE |
| Maryland | (+12) Derik Queen was already insanely good, but if he starts actually hitting a three or two a game it changes how you have to guard this entire team. |
