Equivalent-Yard3824's Week 7 Ballot

RankTeamReason
Auburn (+0) They have the NPOY in Broome dropping unheard of statlines and have the second lowest assist allowed % in the nation stifling opponent Os
Tennessee (+0) Gutsy performance, buzzer beating win in Illinois w/o Lanier and Zeigler for much of the 2nd half. Limits paint scoring so well, forcing 48.4% of shots to be 3s that're only being hit at 25%
Iowa State (+0) Lipsey got the offseason headlines but Gilbert has been the standout; only team in top 10 of O and D Rtg
Duke (+0) In light of what Broome has done to other teams, shout to to Maliq Brown's DPOY case, adding a developing Evans to the rotation is huge for this team's aspirations
Kentucky (+1) Two of the best wins in the country, Defense Rtg has slipped a bit, for as much as they push tempo they force just the 340th most TOs
Alabama (+2) The offense is outblitzing teams even while shooting just 31.8% on 3, down from 37.3% last season; if that meets in the middle, look out.
Marquette (-2) Losing @ Dayton isn't bad, I've been ranking them for a while, but the offense was stagnant, just 8 assists to 19 for Dayton, and outphysical'd (15 OR for Day) by a much smaller team is worrying
Kansas (+1) Somethings still off with the offense, currently sit at 4th worst in all NCAA in FTA/FGA while shooting
Florida (+3) It took him a while to get the personnel for it, but Golden is finally running his 3pt heavy scheme he ran at SF with Florida looking like an NBA team out there chucking them up at will.
Gonzaga (-3) Still too reliant on paint scoring; UConn made Nemhard try to win it on the perimeter going under on screens and it worked
Houston (-1) A close loss to the best team in the country is the only bandage keeping them this high, they'll need to continue to prove it.
Texas A&M (+1) Road win over Purdue gives them a 4-1 record against top 50 teams, the offense is still ugly, but throw it at the rim and get the miss is a valid strategy.
UConn (+1) The apology must be as loud as the disrepect was, the defense is still a step behind, but Hurley has the offense cooking.
Ole Miss (+2) 2-1 against top 100 opponents, it's hard to judge them, but they take care of the ball extremely well, leading the NCAA in turnover %.
Dayton (+3) This team has some crazy mental toughness, never getting out of rhythm and never seeming worried about any deficit
Purdue (-4) The flaws in this team are starting to become more apparent, lack of secondary ball handlers/initiators and lack of physicality on D.
Oregon (+4) I overcorrected last week to the loss, in reality very few if any teams can claim to have 4 top 75 wins away from home at this point
Texas Tech (+1) Off week means we learned nothing since last week, my opinion of them being able to hang with a team I ranked 12th without their best player hasn't changed.
UCLA (+1) A 3-0 start to P12 conference play for the Bruins! Oh wait... this Mick Cronin defense is a monster, forcing the most turnovers in the NCAA
Mississippi State (+2) McNeese has a high chance of being a tournament team, but that was a little too close for comfort; 3pt disparity is going to be key to watch for Msst.
St. John's (+3) Still waiting on the marquee win, but they keep outclassing inferior opponents.
Illinois (+5) Young team has a lot of room to grow, but had the #2 team on the ropes, making their offense look all out of sorts and Kasparas showed some insane shot making
Cincinnati (-8) Even though it was a win, they failed their 'test' against Xavier, relying on late game heroics to fend off the cross town rivals, they better show up against Dayton or their off these rankings.
Maryland (+1) Again, an off week reveals nothing, but I'm still in awe of Derik Queen thus far.
Memphis (+12) This team is too cool to leave off the rankings, watching Haggerty and Hunter hit tough shots is so much fun and they've got 5 top 50 wins to back it up
