Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Purdue | |
| Houston | |
| Kansas | |
| UConn | |
| Kentucky | |
| Tennessee | |
| Marquette | |
| Illinois | |
| North Carolina | |
| BYU | |
| Colorado State | |
| Arizona | The good news: not every team you play this year will shoot 64% from three. The bad news: the Cats’ perimeter defense looks really bad right now |
| Oklahoma | |
| Baylor | |
| Clemson | |
| Duke | |
| Florida Atlantic | I could see FAU winning a national championship this year. I could also see them losing in the first round |
| Wisconsin | |
| Creighton | A 5 point road loss to a top 10 team is far from the end of the world, but the turnovers are really starting to hurt Creighton |
| Memphis | |
| James Madison | |
| Ole Miss | |
| Utah | The first half was ugly, but kudos to a strong second half to beat a good Washington team |
| Providence | My apologies for saying that you lost to Wisconsin last week. Providence beat Wisconsin, their losses are to Kansas State and Oklahoma |
| Auburn | Welcome to the top 25, Tigers! |
Overall, a relatively uneventful Christmas week, with Arizona, FAU, Creighton, and Gonzaga as the only teams to lose from last week’s top 25. Gonzaga is the only team to fall out after a home loss to SDSU. Not the end of the world, and they should be fine in a weak WCC, but this is not the powerhouse we’ve come to expect from the Zags. My 5 teams on the waiting list are SDSU, Gonzaga, Nevada, Butler, and Iowa State
